Is the Studio Tour worth it?

For almost anyone who has enjoyed the films, yes, and it is one of the best-reviewed attractions in the London area. But it is a specific kind of day out, and knowing what it is (and is not) is how you avoid disappointment.

What you get for your ticket

The real thing. These are the sets, props and costumes built for the eight films and kept by the studio where they were shot: the Great Hall, Dumbledore’s office and the Gryffindor common room, the Forbidden Forest, the actual Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 3/4, Diagon Alley and Gringotts, the creature workshop, and the 1:24 Hogwarts model that closes the tour. Displays show how the effects, make-up and animatronics were made. It is a film-making exhibition, and a superb one.

What it costs in 2026

Official entry is £58.50 for adults, £47 for children 5 to 15 and £188 for a family; under-4s go free. Budget extra for the digital guide (from £5.25), Butterbeer and lunch, and the gift shop. The Viator packages start at about $116 including a return coach from London. Against the train fare plus planning, many travelers find the bundle fair: one reviewer who expected little called the coach “worth the extra money” because the Studio is not close to London.

Who loves it, and who may not

Loves it: fans of any age, anyone curious about how films are made, and families with children around 8 and up. May not: visitors expecting a theme park. How to make it worth every penny

Book early for school holidays and the seasonal features, pick a morning slot, wear comfortable shoes and give it at least four hours. If you like detail, buy the digital guide or take the fully guided tour, which reviewers credit with stories no display tells you. And check how long to allow before you fix the rest of your day.
